Numerous experimental and clinical studies indicate that stem cell transplantation (SCT) may be a promising way for dealing with critical limb ischemia (CLI). This article reviews the indications of SCT for CLI, sources as well as methods for isolation of SCT, administration route, and evaluation of safety and efficacy.
