    Abstract:

A variety of tumor markers have been identified over the past years, among which, epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) is expected to become a new diagnostic factor for improving the detection rate of liver cancer. Based on reports in the literature, this paper summarizes the biological characteristics of EpCAM and its expression characteristics in liver development and liver cancer, as well as the current status and prospects of its application in clinical diagnosis.
