According to the current stem cell theory of the origin of cancer, the tumor growth results from the proliferation of a small amount of cancer stem cells, and the proliferation of cancer stem cells is regulated by a number of signaling pathways. In this paper, the authors present the research progress concerning the signaling pathways associated with the growth of gastrointestinal cancer stem cells.
