Professor Xiaoping Chen is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and an expert in the field of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. He is the honorary president of Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), director of Department of Surgery and director of Institute of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery of Tongji Hospital affiliated to Tongji Medical College of HUST, and director of the Key Laboratory of Organ Transplantation of Ministry of Education, National Health Commission, and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. He also serves as the president of the Asia-Pacific Laparoscopic Hepatectomy Promotion and Development Expert Committee, chairman of the Chinese Expert Committee on the Promotion and Development of Laparoscopic Hepatectomy, chairman of the Chinese Chapter of International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, a standing member of the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver, an honorary fellow of the American Surgical Association, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the International Surgical Group, a standing member and leader of the Hepatology Group of Surgery Society of Chinese Medical Association, the vice-president of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association Surgeon Branch and Organ Transplantation, and president of the Wuhan Medical Association.
