Journal Introduction
The China Journal of General Surgery （CJGS, ISSN1005-6947/CN43-1213R）, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, was founded in 1992 with the Central South University and Xiangya Hospital, Central South University as the sponsor. The journal is published monthly with papers covering all respects of general surgery from authors all over the country in both print and online formats.
The journal’s editorial board and academic consultants consist of over 100 members, including eminent national and international specialists in each sub-field of general surgery, some of whom are members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The structure of board members and consultants, along with the support of a panel of qualified reviewers, ensures the quality and high scientific standard of the published articles and the increasing popularity of the journal.
The mission of CJGS is to disseminate new concepts, innovative techniques and methods, and the latest developments in the theory, practice, and basic research related to general surgery throughout the nation and the world. The journal features a section of a regular monographic series that contains clinical and laboratory-based research focusing on each specific area of general surgery in each issue. In addition to the monographic series, other journal sections include editorials, opinions, expert forums, reviews, brief articles, case reports, case discussions, etc.
CJGS has come a long way in fulfilling its mission and has become a highly prestigious journal in the field of general surgery in China. At present, CJGS has been selected as the core journal by all four Chinese core journal evaluation systems including Chinese Science and Technology Paper Citation Database (CSTPCD), A Guide to the Core Journals of China (GCJC), Research Center for Chinese Science Evaluation (RCCSE) and Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), and indexed in Chemical Abstracts of USA (CA), Russia Abstract Journal (AJ), Scopus, Chinese Journal Full-Text Database (CNKI), Chinese Scientific and Technological Journal Database (CSTJ), Chinese Medical Current Contents (CMCC), etc, and also has been listed in the World Journal Impact Index (WJCI) report (2020 -2023), appointed as T3-level journal among the gastroenterology journals recognized by the Hierarchical Catalogue of China High-Quality Sci-Tech Journals, distributed in the Q1 region among the CNKI journals, and included into the 4th, 5th and 6th Chinese Excellent Sci-Tech Journals. In addition, it has been granted many awards such as the Excellent University Sci-Tech Periodicals (2004, 2008, 2010 and 2012), and the one of Ten Hunan Excellent Sci-Tech Journals (2005). In 2021, CJGS successfully secured the funding for the Construction Project of Developing First-Class Hunan-based Sci-Tech Periodicals sponsored by the Hunan Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Department and Science and Technology Department of Hunan Province, been honored with the award nomination for the Periodical Award of the 3rd Hunan Government Publishing Award, and won the title of 2021 Hunan's Top Ten Periodicals.
