Beclin1, an autophagy gene, has aroused great interest among investigators in recent years. This paper addresses the basic role of autophagy in cancer along with its regulatory mechanisms, the mechanisms of deletion or down-regulation of Beclin1 in breast cancer, and the relevance of autophagy to breast cancer as well as the treatment strategies by taking advantage of autophagy.
