Abstract:Using robotic system in colorectal cancer surgery facilitates precise dissection. However, there are some disadvantages such as high cost, extra time needed to dock the cart, and lack of haptic feedback. The development of techniques in robotic colorectal surgery will promote its application. Previous studies have demonstrated that robotic system can ensure the safety and feasibility of surgery and, at the same time, better protect the function of the pelvic autonomic nerves. The oncological outcomes of robotic surgery still need to be evaluated by multicenter, perspective, randomized clinical trials.
